Fairy Dust

I walked into Abby's room this morning and noticed a gritty blue dust all over the place....this is the conversation we had:

Mama, "Abby, what is this blue dusty stuff all over your room?"

Abby, "It's fairy dust"

Mama, "Fairy dust? Really, what IS it??"

Abby, *blink, blink*, "Fairy dust...it is fairy dust because I am a fairy!"

Mama, "Abby, for REAL....what is this blue crap all over your room!!???"

Abby, "Fine, fine.....it's blue pixie stick sugar....but I am using it as fairy dust."

Mama *sigh*, "Abby, do you like ants?"...........

Randomness at it's finest!

I am in a "random" kind of mood.

  • The electricity goes out around here a couple of times a month. I blame the bank across the street with all of their extra security lighting and all. Between the interior lights kept on in the offices and what not and the outside lights (which incidentally shine DIRECTLY ON MY HOUSE) shining in the parking lot...my street is lit up like a Christmas tree! I can sit in my living room, at midnight, with all of MY lights off and comfortably read a book...by the light of the bank. What's worse is in the winter, when they use the lights in the drive-thru...and the last person out forgets to turn them off...I bet you could see the bank from the moon it is so bright!
  • My husband loves to go fishing. He usually only fishes in fresh water but lately has been trying his hand at salt water fishing. He has been very discouraged in his quest to catch the elusive striper. Last weekend though, he was quite pleased with himself...he caught a SHARK!! It was small...about 3 feet but still, it was a shark! I think we determined it was some sort of sand shark...not very vicious at all although it had rows and rows of teeth. Well, his story started out believable but as the day went on (and after several phone calls to this one and that one) it got more and more far fetched. I think by the end of the day the shark was 20 feet long, pulled a gun on him and my husband had to fight it off with his brute strength as it tried to gnaw off his arm! My husband now fancies himself as a "Shark Slayer".
  • The weather has been wicked in these parts for the past few weeks. Hot and humid, some days reaching and surpassing 90 degrees! With the humidity it feels like about 150 degrees and when you are driving in a car (with a broken air conditioner) it feels like 700 degrees. If it wasn't for my air conditioners in the house I would have surely died from heat exhaustion by now! I read recently that this past June was the hottest on record for the North East...you ain't kidding! It's a stark contrast to last summer when it barely reached 80 degrees in the entire month of June (actually I think out of the 30 days it rained 25 of them!). I am a chronic complainer about the weather...check back in December when I whine about how cold it is....
  • My cousin's husband shared a tip with me on how to make my spaghetti sauce a little less acidic. Put carrots in it! Throw them in while the sauce is cooking and they will cut the acid. Just remember to take them out (or not) before serving! I can vouch for this tip as I made sauce today and it worked!

A Fresh Start

Where to begin.....hhhmm...let's see.... (a little awkward silence).....

I guess you might be wondering why I started a new blog when I had a perfectly good one before....I guess I just need a fresh start...like rearranging furniture or painting the walls.

I spent so much time trying to get the layout juuusstt right that now it is 11:40 PM and I am tired!

Off to bed and tomorrow I will begin my "fresh start"!
